CRAWLEY, U.K., September 12, 2017 – L3 Commercial Training Solutions (L3 CTS) announced today that it has received a contract from U.S.-based Republic Airline to provide a suite of training devices for its Embraer E175 flight training program. The L3 CTS devices will enable Republic to conduct ground training in-house for the first time, improving control over quality of instruction and monitoring of pilots as they go through training.
Republic pilots will be able to access L3 CTS’ ETHOS® training system anytime, anywhere with their iPads®, allowing them to learn at their own pace. The system also offers pilots the benefits of a consistent user interface and training standardization. L3 CTS expects initial deliveries of the training suite at the end of October 2017, with the final elements of the suite to be delivered in early 2018.
“We are proud to build on our relationship with Republic Airline and to be able to support one of the largest regional airlines in operation in the U.S. with our innovative training solutions,” said Alan Crawford, President of L3 Commercial Training Solutions. “It is an exciting time for L3 as we continue to deliver our customized, high-quality programs across North America and around the world.”
“Our strategic relationship with L3 aligns with Republic’s guiding principles as well as our commitment to invest in technologies that provide the most advanced training available and improve our employees’ quality of life,” added Paul Kinstedt, Senior Vice President of Operations and Chief Operating Officer of Republic. “We look forward to implementing L3 CTS’s new Enhanced Visual Procedures Training devices and the ETHOS systems in our Embraer E170/175 initial pilot training program at Republic. These additions will help keep Republic at the forefront of advanced training in our industry.”
The training devices that L3 CTS will deliver as part of its package to Republic include:
• ETHOS Systems Knowledge Suite and Procedures Training Suite, which will be deployed via iPad for distance learning purposes to all Republic pilots
• Three Enhanced Flat Panel Trainers (EFPTs), each with a hardware throttle quadrant, mode control panel, three-channel visual system, flight controls, rudder pedals, cursor control devices and multichannel display units. Each EFPT will also include an Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) trainer.
• A Virtual Flight Deck (VFD) classroom, to be installed within the ground training center, consisting of one Instructor Station and 15 Student Stations.
All of these solutions will be serviced through an extended support plan.
